199583 Academic Commons Night Manager
Clark University’s University Police seeks a mature individual to fill the position of Academic Commons Night Manager. Reporting to the University Chief of Police, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for building oversight and coordination of after-hours services in the Academic Commons, primarily for Clark’s student populations. The Night Manager will be a physical and positive presence to all late night users of the facility. Duties and Responsibilities Included in a range of responsibilities, the Academic Commons Night Manager will ensure that the Academic Commons is a safe environment during late night and early morning hours and will coordinate closely with University Police. The Manager will schedule shifts and oversee student escort services and will work with the Events Planner in assisting the scheduling of spaces for maximum utilization for programming, after hours study, and meetings. In addition, the Manager will assist with the late night food service needs of the student population through a combination of direct service, vending, and coordination with the University’s food service vendor. The Manager will work with ITS regarding technology support and services after hours and will assist in bringing together a diverse set of service providers and Academic Commons’ occupants to meet the common objective of better serving our students. The Academic Commons Night Manager will oversee and manage assistant managers who work a total of 16 hours a week on Fridays and Saturdays and will work Sunday through Thursday with flexibility regarding the actual hours worked. Hours worked is determined by the Chief of Police. Qualifications The successful candidate will have a positive demeanor, strong communication skills and good judgment, as well as the ability to make independent decisions. Candidate is expected to function well at night with previous experience in student services preferred. Technical qualifications include solid computer technology skills. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, 9 month/year position with unpaid time off during the summer and semester breaks.
