The Apprentice Tradesman assists a certified or licensed skilled tradesman in all phases of work associated with a particular trade and is responsible for learning the duties in an apprentice training program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Apprentice Tradesman will be trained in the performance and assistance of skilled trades duties under the supervision of a Skilled Tradesman including installation of electrical wiring, electrical fixtures and computer cable lines, assembly, installation and repairing of air, gas and waste disposal systems according to specifications and plumbing codes, building and repairing of wooden structures or their structural parts, an acetylene gas and electrical arc welding on equipment in need of repairs, brick laying and masonry duties, and a variety of interior and exterior painting task
Assist the Skilled Trade's worker with contacting customers and providing information and schedules for ongoing work if possible or provide courtesy tag when customer is not available
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of basic measuring tools, equipment, and materials used in the various skilled trades.
Ability to perform manual labor under various working conditions, use hand and power tools in various working conditions, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and communicate information and ideas in various environments.
Skill in the use, operation, and care of tools and machinery.
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Availability to work after hours, weekends, or holidays as requested
Candidate must possess a valid Drivers License.
Completion of sufficient education or training to read and write.
Two (2) years of experience in a chosen trade field.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
Other job related Education and/or Experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval or the qualifications review committee.
