Information Technology Lead Network Specialist
Lead Network Specialist is the leadership level where incumbents are fully qualified to provide planning and design leadership for network projects. This includes planning, needs analysis, design and implementation of statewide voice, video, or data systems. Incumbents at this level are recognized experts on communications networks and platforms and work with major vendors, technical staff and management to assess requirements and recommend system solutions. Incumbents at this level investigate and resolve the most complex operating problems, lead project teams comprised of other technical staff and provide technical consultation on matters related to voice, video, or data systems design, implementation.
Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:
Designs, tests, and implements statewide voice and data systems to meet the needs of clients and prepares specifications and plans for implementation of new or enhanced networks.
Designs, configures, and implements network hardware, software, ancillary services, and network communication gateways to other computing environments.
Monitors network performance and makes modifications to enhance operating efficiency. Develops networks and criteria for network monitoring software. Develops methods and criteria for network traffic analysis, and data collection and analysis.
Manages network operations and identifies and resolves network (and component) operating problems with vendors and internal staff.
Provides supportive expertise to other technical staff members in installing and configuring network equipment and in resolving user or systems problems.
Leads project teams comprised of other technical staff.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
