The Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs seeks applications and nominations for a tenure-track position as assistant professor with teaching and research interests in public/non-profit management. Primary responsibilities of the position include:
1) Conducting a program of research leading to scholarly publications
2) Teaching graduate courses in the MPA and Ph.D. programs
3) Internal service
4) Outreach activities related to research
The University of Missouri is located in Columbia, Missouri. It is one of only 34 public universities that has membership in the Association of American Universities and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Doctoral/Research Extensive Institution. The Truman School has regularly been ranked among the nation's top schools of public affairs. It has a multidisciplinary, research-oriented faculty (including many with joint appointments in collaborating units) and houses several research centers and institutes.
Applicants for this position are expected to demonstrate high potential for scholarly research, publication, grant activity and teaching excellence. Preferred candidates will have strong theoretical orientation and methodological skills. An earned doctorate in public management, public administration, political science, sociology or a related field is required at the time of appointment.
