RESEARCH PROFESSIONAL I
Job Summary This position will oversee day-to-day poultry processing, product development and further processing, and associated research in the Poultry Science research pilot plant on the Research Farm. It is responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting research on fresh and processed or value added meat or poultry products. This position requires knowledge of poultry slaughter, meat processing, product development, unit operations in further processing of poultry, etc. The final candidate should be very organized, be able to effectively communicate, and be able to use Microsoft Office software. This person would be responsible for conducting experiments as well as assisting students with ongoing projects. In addition, this person will be responsible for scheduling maintenance of the poultry processing pilot plant, sanitary operation and cleanliness of the operation following USDA FSIS guidelines/requirements for HACCP and Sanitation SOPs, maintain records and documentation regarding equipment and projects, maintain equipment in proper working order, maintain inventory of chemical supplies, and prepare data for analysis. Other job responsibilities include training and supervision of students and other employees; compliance with bio-safety and other work place policies; scheduling or experiments; maintenance of laboratory supplies, equipment, and facilities; analysis of data; preparation of reports; and other duties as assigned. http://www.caes.uga.edu/departments/poultry.html Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and some related experience or equivalent combination required.
