The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Department of Biology teaches biological concepts and research methods to biology and medical technology majors and prepares them for professional careers and/or advanced study. We also introduce non-biology majors to basic biological knowledge and its applications to our society. We prepare graduate students for professional careers and/or further graduate study. By involving undergraduate and graduate students in research, we increase society's knowledge of living organisms and their environments and we enhance our students' technical and analytical skills so that they can contribute meaningfully to an increasingly technological society. We apply our skills by serving the University, our profession, and the larger community.
The Department of Biology at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Molecular/Cellular Plant Physiology. The applicant will be expected to develop a productive, externally funded research program addressing prominent aspects of plant physiology using molecular approaches and contribute to student mentoring and instruction in the department. The successful applicant will fully participate in our broadly defined doctoral program in Environmental Health Science, which is directed at understanding environmental problems that directly or indirectly affect human health and well-being from molecular to global levels. Likewise, the successful applicant will provide excellent instruction in our Biology undergraduate curriculum and graduate programs, develop elective courses related to areas of expertise and mentor students from our diverse undergraduate and graduate populations. Potential synergies with faculty in our and other departments are desirable.
Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Biology, or a related discipline, by August 1, 2018.
Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
