The Department of Theatre and Dance at Montclair State University seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in support of its professional BFA Musical Theatre training program. The successful candidate will teach, direct and/or choreograph one to two productions per year, recruit and mentor students, support towards curricular development, contribute towards the operation and development of an active production season, advance the reputation and visibility of the University nationally and internationally, and promote the BFA Musical Theatre degree program as a vital part of the arts and entertainment environment in New York City and the surrounding tristate area.
Qualifications & Requirements
Substantial professional credentials in musical theatre choreography and/or direction, terminal degree (MFA or PhD), college teaching experience, and a commitment to excellence in all areas of musical theatre training on the undergraduate level. We are interested in candidates who are able to teach within the musical theatre disciplines with a strong focus in musical theatre dance and choreography, who are committed to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, who are attuned to interdisciplinary collaboration with the various areas of the Department of Theatre and Dance and the John J. Cali School of Music, and who will maintain an active scholarly and/or professional practice outside Montclair State University.
