Reporting directly to the Vice President and Dean of Admission, the Director of Admissions will lead all aspects of recruitment, selection and enrollment of new undergraduate students. The Director will be a strategic partner in the development of a comprehensive recruitment plan informed by data and best practices. Additionally, the Director will provide day to day leadership to a team of 14 admission professionals and create a student centric culture that aligns with the institutional mission. As the leader of the office of admissions, the Director works collaboratively with senior leadership including Financial Aid and University Communications to organize and implement a highly efficient, team-based enrollment model. The Director will work to develop and sustain relationships with key constituents, such as the university campus community, high school counselors, alumni, community colleges, parents and prospective students.
This position provides vision to inspire, motivate, coach and mentor professional and support staff in setting and reaching enrollment goals; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of admission policies, practices and procedures; Contributes and works collaboratively with VP in the development of marketing materials and strategies utilizing current technologies, including social media.
Meets and/or exceeds enrollment goals for CLA Admissions and the designated travel territory.
Establish direction for recruitment efforts and strategies that will enable the College to stabilize enrollment goals.
Engage in long-term planning and evaluation, as well as resource assessment and budgeting procedures.
Lead the Admission Committee during application review and selection process.
Develops, compiles and analyzes recruitment and enrollment statistics in support of VP.
Analyze the return on investment of recruitment efforts and provide data analysis to the Vice President.
Collaborate with and the Director of Financial Aid in determining financial aid strategy and modeling.
Ensure undergraduate recruitment messaging is consistent with institutional identity and enrollment goals.
Work with College leaders, deans, professors, students and alumni to ensure that recruitment and admission efforts are consistent with other institutional goals and objectives.
Provide ongoing leadership to the office to build morale and focus on departmental objectives, empower staff to work effectively, conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to staff.
Manage the department budget and determine how to most effectively allocate fiscal resources
Provide oversight and support for the management, planning, and execution of all campus recruitment events, as well as recruitment-related travel.
Conduct compelling presentations about the College to prospective students and parents during information sessions, case studies and other admission related events.
Stay current on new innovations and best practices in college admissions and identify effective. ways to use emerging technologies to communicate with prospective students and their families
Directly partner with the Athletic Office on the recruitment and enrollment efforts of exemplary Division III student-athletes.
Serve on campus committees and task forces to represent CLA admissions.
A bachelor's degree
Eight or more years of experience in a successful college admission program, preferably at a liberal arts institution.
Experience in recruiting and enrolling a highly diverse student population is a must. Broad experience working in college admissions and a propensity for—and joy in—managing and inspiring staff.
Demonstrated success in planning, organizing, and leadership of successful college admission program and operations, administration, and coaching at a management level.
Strong computer skills: MS Office (MS Word, Excel) and experience and knowledge of CRM and student information systems. Strong proficiency in the use of computer for communications, data management, data reporting, and budget review. Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies associated with the job.
Strategic thinker who is creative and willing to think beyond traditional boundaries. Possess excellent analytical skills.
Excellent oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and programs to a broad constituency.
Demonstrate excellent supervisory, administrative, and leadership skills.
Ability to articulate the value of a liberal arts and sciences education for undergraduate students, specifically as they relate to Willamette Universityto a variety of audiences.
A demonstrated commitment to inclusion, equity and social justice with experience in providing support and advocacy for diverse communities (includes but not limited to: race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability and socioeconomic status), required.
Demonstrated ability to relate positively and professionally with prospective students, parents, alumni, and high school counselors.
Excellent organizational, time management, event planning, and effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.
Must have the ability to exercise good judgment while working collegially in a high pressure, deadline driven environment, especially in confidential and sensitive situations.
Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relations with other staff, faculty and students.
Ability to work weekends, evenings and travel overnight for extended periods of time.
Must possess a current driver's license valid in the state of Oregon or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire and a driving record insurable by the University's insurer.
Successful clearance of a criminal conviction record check.
BA/BS from an independent residential liberal arts college.
Bilingual - English/Spanish.
Experience with Google Docs, Slate CRM system and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat).

Work environment: Work involves a variety of duties and responsibilities including travel and outreach in Willamette University's admission efforts for the College of Liberal Arts. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills for both internal and external audiences. Service and quality of the campus visit has a significant impact on Willamette's image and student's decision to enroll.
This is a full-time exempt position. This position is eligible for the University's generous benefits package
Pay is commensurate with experience, background, and education.
