 Head Women’s/ Men's Cross Country & Track & Field Coach (Indoor and Outdoor) / (Professional Service Specialist 3)


Areas of Responsibility:   Responsible to the Director of Athletics; will coordinate coaching and overall organization and administration of Women’s/Men’s Track programs (Indoor and Outdoor).  Additionally, will serve as a Retention Coach in the Athletic Academic Retention Program (AARP)

  1. Women’s/Men’s Cross Country & Track Program (Indoor and Outdoor)

Conduct planned, structured and organized practice sessions

Scout opponents

Compile meet schedule with designated department administrator

Attend department meetings

Serve as liaison with designated department administrator on facility preparation and maintenance

Hire (with the approval of the Director) and supervise assistant coaches

Responsible for equipment purchases within department parameters

Responsible for issue and collection of equipment in conjunction with equipment supervisor

Develop team travel plans

Prepare team budget

Conduct fundraising activities

Successfully pass Defensive Driving Course

Coordinate eligibility and compliance meetings with Eligibility and Compliance Officer

Adhere to NCAA, NJAC and ECAC rules and regulations

Adhere to university admissions policies, academic standards and financial aid procedures

Submit end-of-year reports as applicable

Develop an effective recruitment program

Develop contacts with secondary school and junior college coaches

Develop a positive working relationship with the Admissions Office

Submit recruitment forms as requested by the Director

Adhere to regulations as outlined in Athletic Academic Retention Program (AARP)

Establish an effective communications network with University faculty, administration and staff

Visit high school, professional and community organizations when requested

Conduct on-campus camps and/or clinics when applicable

  • Develop and maintain a program that is competitive within the both conference and independent competitions

  • Additional Professional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Retention Coach in the Athletic Academic Retention Program (AARP)

  • Coordinate class checks and study hall in conjunction with the HEAD Retention Coach

  • Collaborate with HEAD Retention Coach and Athletic Academic Advisors referencing oversight of student-athlete academic progress

  • Collaborate with Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR) and coordinate follow up sessions

  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics


Bachelor's degree
Valid driver’s license
Intercollegiate head coaching or assistant coaching experience
Have collegiate coaching experience at a four (4) year institution.
