The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia is seeking a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor to join its clinical and research faculty within the Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy (ILPPP). The ILPPP is an interdisciplinary institute that involves faculty from the School of Medicine and School of Law, providing forensic training and consultation to the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond, and providing forensic psychological evaluations through the training clinic.
All of the incumbent's time will be within the ILPPP, but approximately 50% will be spent performing forensic evaluations, while other 50% of time will be spent performing research; current funding involves a federal grant to improve the forensic sciences. In most tasks, the incumbent is expected to participate in the training/supervision of forensic psychology and psychiatry fellows, practicum students and/or law students.
Candidates must have a PhD/PsyD in Clinical Psychology and a JD law degree. Extensive post-doctoral experience in forensic evaluation and forensic research is required. We strongly prefer an applicant who has completed a formal postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology. We strongly prefer an applicant with a strong record of research and publication in forensic psychology and/or forensic science, and/or law. Candidates must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia by date of hire.
