The College of Education is seeking a full time Departmental Assistant for the Fusion Center for Innovation. This position will also serve as the departmental assistant for the Office of Field Experience for a fraction of their time. This person will 1) manage inventory of office supplies and extensive amounts of class supplies related to STEM education, including check-out of materials for use in schools; 2) Assist with the supervision of Graduate Assistants and Student Assistants, particularly keeping track of their schedule and work hours; 3) Serve as the “face” of the Fusion Center for Innovation, answering the phones, answering inquires, and welcoming guests and donors; 4) Assist with all Fusion Center communications, including donor boards, scheduling meetings, changing website content, etc.; 5) Keep COE databases related to graduates, inventory, and other Center-related lists; 6) Responsible for preparing and processing COE and OFE travel and budget, including processing checks and PO requests, making deposits, and holding a purchasing card and preparing monthly purchasing card statements; 7)Ensure that the facilities in the Center are well maintained. Provides assistance to the Fusion Center Manager. Other duties as assigned.
The person will need organizational, computer, and communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, interacting daily in a positive manner with students, faculty, school partners, and donors. Candidate must have a schedule that allows for occasional work in the evening and weekends for Center events.
High School diploma or GED required with 1 year of clerical or administrative experience required. Must have good computer skills, excellent communication skills and be able to maintain a high level of professionalism, organization, and performance in the office.
Bachelor’s degree and experience working in higher education.
$13.28 minimum to $15.93 midpoint
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and sit in an office environment for long periods of time.
