Job Summary/Description

This academic appointment emphasizing undergraduate course instruction is set to begin in January 2018. This position is a 9-month appointment that encompasses academic fall and spring semesters. Courses will include Introduction to Animal Science, Animal Nutrition and Feeding, Livestock Practicum, and/or other courses as assigned based on the potential candidate's expertise. In addition to course instruction, this candidate will be expected to coordinate the Agriculture Living and Learning Community and will be the delegated organizer of the departmental job/internship fair. This candidate will also be expected to assist with undergraduate advising and serve as an advisor of student organizations. Prospective student recruiting through involvement in local, area, and state competitive judging contests is an important criteria for the Agriculture Department at Angelo State University and candidates for this position will be expected to contribute in coordination of these events.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

Excellence in undergraduate teaching is required. The standard teaching load for this position is 12 hours per long semester. The candidate must also have experience in working with student groups, must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to communicate with industry leaders and the general public.

Any knowledge, skills, and abilities that are pertinent to accomplishing the above stated description and duties are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Completed Master of Science in Animal Science, or completed Master's degree in a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in undergraduate instruction and industry experience in production agriculture.
