Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Neurobiology
The Department of Biology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2018 in the area of neurobiology. The successful candidate will teach specific courses in the department including in the Introductory Biology course sequence; an intermediate-level course with lab in a specialty area for biology majors and a non-majors neurobiology-related course. The successful candidate will also contribute to the interdisciplinary minor in neuroscience (https://www.holycross.edu/academics/programs/neuroscience).
The Introductory Biology course sequence forms the gateway into the major, with individual sections of this course taught by different instructors, sharing a common jointly-developed curriculum that includes active learning components. The other course offerings may be taught using available course materials or may be developed by the candidate. Faculty members in the Department of Biology (http://www.holycross.edu/academics/programs/biology) are expected to maintain an active program of independent research, to engage students in the research process, and to demonstrate a commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring in the context of a liberal arts education. We welcome research programs incorporating lower vertebrates, invertebrates, tissue culture systems and/or computational approaches. Please note that we currently do not have facilities to support research utilizing mammalian or avian model systems.
This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure-track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs in accordance with the College’s published policies.
