Job description

Duties: Assist, coordinate and perform translational medicine experiments in animal models directed toward treatment of rare genetic diseases in children. Assist with preparation and administration of treatment, monitoring of disease progression, collection of serum and CSF samples and specialized procedures such as MRI, radiographs and CSF taps in live cats and dogs. Provide diagnostic services and pre-, peri-, and post operative care as directed. Maintain compliance with approved
animal care and use study protocols and federal, state, and local departmental and university regulations, policies and standard operating procedures. Overall, contribute to the advancement of gene therapies of genetic disorders and orphan diseases by assisting research investigators with experimental procedures as needed.

Qualifications: A: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field, and 0 - 1 year of experience as veterinary technician with a good understanding of dogs and cats; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

B: Same as above with a minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience..
