Job Description: POSITION TITLE: NURSING SIMULATION COORDINATOR LFNURS-CORD01 STATUS: Full-Time, 9-month position DEPARTMENT: Nursing, Allied Health, & Emergency Services DIVISION: Academic Affairs CLASSIFICATION: Exempt UNION: Non-union REPORTS TO: Department Chair PLACEMENT: Professional staff, grade 9 MINIMUM PAY RATE: $41,262 for 9 months Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. POSITION SUMMARY This 9 months position will implement simulation scenarios in collaboration with faculty. Simulation scenarios may be used as substitution for clinical time or in a testing situation. The coordinator will be responsible for operating high-fidelity human simulators which may include adjusting parameters based on students' clinical decisions and role-playing as the voice of the patient or another health care professional. Therefore, recent acute care clinical experience is necessary to ensure as much realism as possible. Some evenings and occasional work on a Saturday is required. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plan and implement high-fidelity simulation scenarios in conjunction with nursing faculty. 2. Operate, trouble-shoot, and care for high-fidelity human simulator(s). 3. Assist faculty in developing and implementing debriefing sessions after the completion of simulation scenarios 4. Collaborate with the staff in the Nursing Simulation Lab to compose and assemble props needed for patient scenarios such as but not limited to wounds, dressings, faux human excrement, and various medical equipment. 5. Develop and implement a student evaluation tool for simulation use in collaboration with the Nursing Evaluation Committee. Tally responses and make changes to scenarios according to results in collaboration with the chairperson and his/her designee and Nursing Evaluation Committee. 6. Maintain the calendar for the use of the high-fidelity human simulator(s). 7. Assist the chairperson and faculty in the identification and purchase of simulation equipment based on needs assessment and student evaluations. 8. Assist the Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinators with tutoring or nursing skills labs as needed. 9. Maintain competency and implement current evidence-based practice by regularly performing literature searches and attending workshops or conferences on patient simulation. 10. Participate in the goals and objectives of the College and department. 11. Perform related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 2. Current Illinois registered nursing license. 3. Two (2) years' experience in the field of clinical nursing. 4. Expertise in appropriate technologies for simulation. 5. Computer experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 6. Excellent presentation and communication skills. 7. Demonstrate clinical competence and professionalism thereby serving as a role model to the nursing students. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Master's degree in Nursing. 2. Supervisory experience. 3. Working knowledge of Mac computers. 4. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Standard classroom equipment and software. 2.
