Position Summary: The Department of Spanish at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2018. The field of specialization is Central American Literature. The successful candidate would be able to teach all levels of Spanish language, Latin American literature and culture, and would be committed to the liberal arts tradition. The Department seeks candidates who have experience and interest in supporting heritage speakers and underrepresented students. We encourage applications from candidates whose teaching, scholarship, or governance would contribute to the diversity of the campus curriculum and community.  

Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year, maintaining an active research agenda, advising undergraduate students, and participating in governance at the departmental and College levels.


Qualifications: Candidates should have a specialization in Central American literature and a broad background in Latin American literary and cultural studies. We seek an outstanding teacher who can demonstrate evidence of scholarly accomplishment or potential and who has experience and interest in working with and supporting heritage speakers and underrepresented students. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish required. Ph.D. preferred; ABD considered.
