The Department of Psychology at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2018 (specialization open). We seek a colleague who is committed to and has a track record of exemplary teaching and high-quality research with undergraduate students. The successful applicant will be broadly trained in psychology with demonstrated excellence in teaching general psychology. Preference will be given to those who have taught courses among the following: forensic, health, human factors, industrial-organizational psychology, or statistics. Experience in online teaching or a willingness to learn how to develop and teach online courses is required. Standard teaching load is twelve (12) credit hours per semester (traditional and online). The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited university (ABD will be considered). Initial review of applications will begin on October 16, 2017 and continue until the position is filled.

The University of North Alabama is the state’s oldest public university and sits on a beautiful 130-acre campus in historic Florence, Alabama. Florence is located within a four-city area on the banks of the Tennessee River known as the Shoals, which is steeped in arts, culture, and entertainment—and is home to the famous Muscle Shoals sound.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Psychology from an accredited university (ABD considered) prior to start date. Preference will be given to those who have taught courses among the following: forensic, health, human factors, industrial-organizational psychology, or statistics.

Desired qualifications include: Teaching experience at the undergraduate level; Experience in online teaching or a willingness to learn how to develop and teach online courses; Excellent verbal and writing skills; Ability to establish an active undergraduate research program; Demonstrated promise as an advisor and mentor to undergraduate students; Dedication to collegiality, inclusiveness, and diversity.
