Position Summary

The Division of Enrollment Management and Spartan Academic Success (EMSAS) works in partnership with the University community to deliver high quality services that facilitates the recruitment, retention, and graduation of a diverse undergraduate and graduate student population. The division strives to provide service, leadership, and transitional support for UNCG students and is committed to designing, implementing, and providing the services necessary to promote student success throughout the student life cycle from day one to diploma. The division includes Undergraduate Admissions, the Financial Aid Office, the University Registrar's Office, the Students First Office, the Student Success Center, Office of Retention Initiatives and the Office of New Student Transitions and the First-Year Experience. Reporting to the Senior Director of College Completion Initiatives, the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating efforts that support recruiting, learning, personal development, retention, and graduation of students. This position will also assist with management of the Barbershop Talk Conference, Spartan Men's Initiative, Adult Learners Outreach, and the UNCG CHANCE Latino Pipeline Initiative for Enrollment Management. Additionally, through a partnership with Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director also serves to increase and retain the number of new transfer students, streamline the transfer articulation process, and move prospective transfer students through the Admissions funnel, from initial inquiry to graduation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

-Adult Learner Outreach - Implement a tangible internal outreach and retention plan for special student populations on campus who have a high probability of stopping out. Establish intrusive engagement plans and goals geared toward retaining a minimum 75% of the assigned students with measurable outcomes.

-Spartan Men's Initiative (SMI) - Work with an assigned group of SMI students who are at risk of withdrawing from the University. In addition, work collaboratively with the SMI staff to recruit and engage the incoming class of participants which may include teaching a designated section of FFL 100, specifically designed to address the needs of this student population. Establish high-touch/high-engagement practices and goals with measurable outcomes, intended to retain at least 80% of the students participating in SMI.

-UNCG CHANCE Latino Initiative - Work with high school rising junior and senior student to make wise educational choices and assist them with designing plans for successful achievement of their academic goals and objectives. Including college prep, financial literacy, design your life and mock classes to assist students with major selection and career possibilities.

-Contacts specified populations in the freshmen and transfer applicant pool to answer questions; meets with prospective freshmen and transfer students and families on campus; conducts presentations to prospective students and parents both on and off campus; is present for major on-campus admissions events such as Spartan Showcase, Destination UNCG, Transfer Information Programs and Junior Day; performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Completion Initiatives or the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required in Human Development and Family Studies or related field required. Experience working in a higher education setting, specifically with retention initiatives, 1st Year Experience Programs, transfer students, and first generation students. The successful Assistant Director exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students, demonstrating an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team member, faculty, students, administrators and staff. A flexible work schedule that will include days, some evenings, and some weekends is required.
