Position Summary: The Department of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill, a national leader in innovative clinical care and teaching, is seeking applicants for a Certified Nurse Midwife/ Family Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife who will be appointed as a fixed-term faculty member. The mission of the Department of Family Medicine is to promote the health of the people of North Carolina and the nation through leadership and innovation in clinical practice, medical education, research and community service. As an instrument of the State of North Carolina, we are concerned with both current needs and future generations, and have a special commitment to the underserved, mothers and children, the elderly and other populations at risk in a time of rapid changes in the organization of health care. This position is an integral part of UNC Family Medicine Center's Maternal and Child Health Program, offering evidence-based and family friendly prenatal care, personalized care during labor and delivery, and early childhood pediatric care. Primary responsibilities are for patient care, labor and delivery, quality improvements, teaching family medicine residents, and other program developments. Faculty rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Education Requirements: Master's or higher degree in Nursing or related field with primary focus on Nursing. Nurse Midwife certification required. Family Nurse Practitioner certification highly preferred, but not required.

Qualification and Experience: The successful candidate will have previous experience working in an academic environment with experience and a passion for patient care, teaching, and clinical scholarship. Minimum of three years Nurse Midwife experience required. Applicants must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, and completed a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and "approved to practice medical acts" by the Joint Subcommittee or Graduation.
