RESEARCH SPECIALIST B/C
Duties: This position is for a Research Specialist B or C in Dr. John Wherry's laboratory. The laboratory is focused on understanding mechanisms underlying immune cell function, specifically T cell exhaustion in the context of viral infection and cancer. The Research Specialist will be responsible for performing independent experiments on mice, using a viral infection model, under the direction of the PI or senior lab member. Major responsibilities will include mouse handling, isolation and culture of mouse T cells, and multicolor flow cytometry. Data analysis and timely generation of experimental reports is required. Additional supportive functions in the laboratory are also expected. Research Specialist C: In addition to the above, the RS-C candidate will work with a significantly higher level of independence with less oversight. The RS-C will be expected to design and troubleshoot experiments and establish viral infection models in humanized mice. Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications: Research Specialist B: A Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field and 1 to 3 years of experience in a research laboratory, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. 2-3 years of experience and immunology background is strongly preferred. Experience working with rodents is required. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a lab team. Research Specialist C: The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences and at least 3 to 5 years experience. The RS-C must have proven expertise in design of experiments and data interpretation. The RS-C will have a higher degree of technical expertise.
