The Academic Resource Center (ARC) in the Division of Undergraduate Education seeks a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Academic Mentoring Programs in the ARC, and is charged to develop and manage the campus-wide SI program. SI provides specific academic support to undergraduate students in challenging, large, entry-level courses. The SI coordinator supervises two full-time career professionals and a team of SI Leaders (80 undergraduate students). Minimum Requirements: Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and problem solving with all levels of academia and staff.
Detail oriented with the ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze problems and apply effective solutions.
Knowledge of academic educational programs and curriculum development.
Knowledge of designing and implementing learning models.
Knowledge of learning theories, learning styles and linguistic issues.
Effective writing and editing skills including experience developing reports and presentations.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skill to establish rapport, demonstrate responsiveness, and gain the trust of a variety of organizational stakeholders.
Ability to invite information, constructive criticism, and cooperation from others.
Skill to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with university academic partners, including faculty, administrators, and students.
Demonstrated skill in identifying the correct issues to be communicated, the appropriate audience, the method of communication, and the timing of the communication.
Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities.
Demonstrated experience as a catalyst for change, employing the appropriate level of risk to the situation.
Experience in program evaluation through establishment of KPIs and metrics; prepare comprehensive and in-depth analysis of complex, sensitive, and multi-faceted issues, particularly under time constraints.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with SI or tutoring programs.
Master's Degree in a related field.
Knowledge of UC/UCR policies and procedures.
Experience teaching in a university/community college setting.
Experience with student academic support program administration in a research university setting, with specific experience with SI and training through UMKC.
