Description of Position
Under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance and Operations, the Maintenance Technician/Painter position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain buildings, classrooms, offices, roofs, and mechanical equipment; Perform skilled painting and finishing of wood, stucco, drywall, and metal surfaces to preserve the appearance of District facilities; maintain pool and pool equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities above and three years of building maintenance, painting, or related construction experience.

Representative Duties
• Perform a variety of skilled work, maintenance and repairs on District mechanical equipment and facilities including various wood, metal and concrete structures, locks, windows, doors, ceiling acoustics, flooring, fencing, roofing, gutters and drains.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager with coordination and scheduling of contractors, service and repair companies for renovation, remodeling of District buildings.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools, and equipment required for building maintenance and repair work in a safe and effective manner.
• Perform skilled painting, use brushes, spray guns, and rollers in applying paint products to various surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, plaster, stucco, wallboard, brick and cement.
• Scrape, sand, fill, plaster stucco, drywall, and prepare surfaces for painting or repainting. E • Lay out and paint parking lot lines, curbs, and
stenciling.
• Maintain pool and pool deck; maintain and repair
diving boards, swim lanes, pool covers and pool
cleaning equipment.
• Provide backup for the District Plumber with
mechanical repair and maintenance of pool
equipment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
• Salary is at Range 35 AA ( 3,619 monthly) • Salary increase after 6 months of satisfactory
service; increases annually thereafter.
• Minimum 5% increase if promoted.
• 10-working month probationary period. • Union membership upon employment.

Conditions of Employment
Environment
• Indoor and outdoor environment.
• Drive vehicle from site to site to conduct business
of the Sequoias Community College District.
Physical Abilities
• Ability to reach in all directions, bend, kneel and crouch.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds and work from heights.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended period of time.
• Ability to move hands and fingers to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, machinery having moving parts, and specialized equipment and perform manual labor.

Hazards
• Working at heights up to thirty feet on ladders or scaffolds.
• Exposure to chemical fumes, paint fumes, dust, odors, noise used in maintenance of District buildings.
• Working in a cramped or restrictive work area.

Screening Procedure
Only complete application packages will be evaluated by a qualified screening committee as soon as possible after the closing date. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not assure the candidate an interview. Application materials will be screened to determine the extent to which they meet the Representative Duties. A selected group of candidates will be invited for oral interviews. After initial interviews, finalists may be asked to return for a second interview.
