Admissions Receptionist

Founded in 1899, Mount Ida College is a small, private college in Newton, Massachusetts, just minutes from Boston which provides career focused programs built upon a strong foundation in the social sciences, humanities and the arts, all developed and implemented to prepare our approximately 1,400 students for success in their chosen fields of endeavor.

Purpose: This position serves to coordinate key undergraduate admissions processes, communication strategies and enrollment management/admissions reporting. This position supports operational processes and protocol of the admissions office.

Essential Functions:
1. Manage the day-to-day front-office operations of the admissions office including daily response to telephone, mail and electronic inquiries, data entry, filing, application processing, word processing, mail flow, receipt of mail; supervise front-line trouble shooting and customer service management for the Admissions office.
2. Maintain a welcoming reception area for visiting students and their families (i.e. stocked and clean coffee station, organized information table)
3. Manage the execution of communications flow (paper and electronic).
4. Assist with the planning of special functions including Open House, Accepted Student Day, Saturday information sessions, and other on/off campus events, working with the Dean of Admissions and other key campus departments to ensure proper setup.
5. Keep current on all aspects of Admissions, academic programs, special services, Financial Aid policies and procedures, facility usage, College philosophy and mission.

1. Bachelor degree preferred, Associate degree required.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Ability to work in a fast paced work environment with superb customer service skills.
4. Self-motivated.
5. Attentive to detail.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet, and strong competency with technology required
7. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
