Duties: The Director of Development and Alumni Communications oversees and directs the day-to-day marketing and communications to Wharton alumni and donors, a key function within Wharton External Affairs. The department serves the Wharton alumni population through thought-leadership programming, signature events, and regular communications, as well as overseeing the School's philanthropic program. The Director will plan, execute and evaluate comprehensive programs that reinforces the mission of Wharton, emphasizing alumni engagement and philanthropy as part of the office of External Affairs. Responsibilities include management of five-person team including development and marketing communications writers, creative staff, and graphic designers. Experience with messaging through multiple media outlets is highly desired, as is experience in higher education and/or development communication. The Director works collaboratively with the Marketing Communications staff at the Wharton School and colleagues in development and alumni relations.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Higher education and/or development communication experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated history of effective performance within complex, cross-functional, deadline-driven environments. Must be self- motivated with a strong work ethic, effective time management skills, and a sense of urgency. Excellent communications skills including persuasive writing and ability to function with diplomacy and service orientation. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications and other communications channels and mediums. The position may require occasional travel and additional hours on nights and weekends.
