The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for a Senior Scientist to work in Dr. DeSimone's laboratory with experience in amphibian (i.e., Xenopus) embryology including embryo culture and microsurgery. Must be familiar with basic biochemical and molecular biological methods typically associated with Cell Biology. Working knowledge and familiarity with cell adhesion, extracellular matrix and mechanobiology are highly desired. Facility with confocal and standard epifluorescence microscopy is essential as well as knowledge of Mac/Unix and MS Windows based imaging systems for data acquisition and analysis. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field and 5 years postdoctoral experience in Cell Biology. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and productively are required.
