Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Three (3) to six (6) years of related, professional work experience in an equipment management role in an intercollegiate or professional athletics setting is preferred (required for no-prefix level title). Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification is required. Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of NCAA and Big Ten rules and regulations and University purchasing procedures; Knowledge of different types of athletic equipment, their uses and safety specifications; Ability to reconstruct apparel and equipment while maintaining National Operating Committee for Standard of Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) standards for all repairs; Knowledge of computer skills for automated inventories, stocking items, and storage procedures; Strong interpersonal skills for developing working relationships with coaches, athletes and sales representatives, and supervisory experience and skills necessary to coach, supervise and lead employees.

License or certificate:

Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification is required.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Equipment Operations, serve as the Head Football Equipment Manager and Equipment Area Supervisor for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Duties of the equipment area include: developing and implementing equipment policies and procedures for over 700 athletes and staff members, overseeing equipment and locker issues, oversee the purchase, inventory and storage of equipment, oversee laundry operations, and supervise a staff that is located in 10 areas of operation at Camp Randall Stadium, The Kohl Center, Porter Boathouse, Natatorium and Goodman Softball Diamond. Act as Head Football Equipment Manager for a Division 1 Football program including maintaining and fitting proper equipment per Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA recommendations) to Football players ensuring all safety and protective devices are in proper working order, (ensure National Operating Committee of Standards of Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) standards for equipment repairs are met); travel and coordinate transportation for away games; ensure NCAA compliance with trademarks, logos, etc.; coordinate with Director of Equipment for all Football equipment budget and purchasing requests.
