Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervision, reporting to the Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), the Assistant Director of Development supports the management and operations of Development through lead annual gift fundraising and sponsorships for CEC. Responsible for building and directing the lead annual gift alumni solicitation program of donor/prospect portfolios for CEC. Identify local support for sponsorships to benefit CEC programs and work with CEC faculty and staff, to fundraise for specific events and initiatives and assist in corporate and alumni engagement that can lead to development. This position is inclusive of the CEC Development team and will operate within the system and procedures of Development to ensure consistent and well-coordinated activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience in an area such as alumni development, fundraising, prospect research, or business development.

Travel is required, as well as working evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Fundraising or development experience in higher education.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Appropriate knowledge of principles and methods of planning and being a part of a comprehensive fundraising program or soliciting sponsorships. Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, volunteers, the business community, and the general public. Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors/prospects. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary. Effective computer experience including database operation and word processing.
