Associate Director of Development, College

Summary: The Associate Director of Development is responsible for identifying and securing major gifts of $50,000-$500,000 for Wake Forest University from alumni, parents, companies, and friends of Wake Forest University with specific emphasis on the Wake Forest University Center for Entrepreneurship. Manages a portfolio of 120 prospects, the Advisory Council for the Center for Entrepreneurship, and works closely with other advancement staff, university administrators, and faculty to secure philanthropic commitments.
- Develops and executes prospect management plans and solicitation strategies; draft proposals and engages in ongoing cultivation of and correspondence with potential donors to Wake Forest University.
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors that have the capacity to make current and deferred gifts in the $50,000 - $500,000 range.
- Manages a portfolio of approximately 120 prospects and donors to Wake Forest University.
- Facilitates and manages the Advisory Council for the Center for Entrepreneurship.
- Collaborates with other directors of development, including department staff and other University officials around prospects, events, and all development efforts for the Wake Forest College.
- Develops and manages long- and short-term strategies to establish ongoing relationships with prospects and current donors. Identifies specific purpose and gift level for each assigned prospect, implements prospect plans which lead to philanthropic support, solicits gifts, and completes follow-up reports documenting activities and those related to closing gifts and stewarding donors.
- Prepares written prospect management plans for the top ten prospects annually.
- Promotes University priorities and image to constituents. Serves as front line staff to promote campus goals and objectives. Maintains current knowledge of university-wide institutional priorities, with special emphasis on the sciences.
- Assists with and participates in all campaign events, as necessary.
- Assists with staffing events involving functions within the departmental units, as needed.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of five years of fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and proven history of gaining philanthropic support and financial commitments from individuals, foundations, and companies.
- Ability to identify and secure gifts of non-traditional assets and/or charitable gifts from alternative funding/revenue sources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
- Ability to foster teamwork and cooperation in a work environment.
- Experience in database management and maintenance.
- Knowledge of charitable giving techniques, instruments, and relevant laws.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally, as necessary.
- Ability to meet requirements of the University’s automobile insurance.
