Assistant Director, University Planning and Analysis
This position is housed in Operational Excellence and Assessment Support (OEAS) within the Division of Teaching and Learning and will report to the Assistant Vice President, Operational Excellence and Assessment Support. The position is responsible for assisting with developing and managing university-wide planning processes and analyzing and reporting quality improvements to internal and external constituents such as UCF leadership, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Florida Board of Governors. The position manages enterprise level decision support for academic and administrative units within the university as applied to Institutional Effectiveness Assessment, accreditation, strategic planning and other enterprise level evaluation processes for the purpose of quality improvement.
Responsible for assisting with the leadership of assessment area of Operational Excellence and Assessment Support in support of Institutional Effectiveness assessment, accreditation and other unit and program evaluation processes for the purpose of quality improvement
Manages ongoing operations of assessment area with responsibility for executing all assignments related to implementation of annual academic program and administrative unit Institutional Effectiveness Assessment for over 370 degree programs, certificates and administrative units.
Assists over 370 academic and administrative areas, to include faculty, administrators and staff members, in selection and development of assessment research design and methodology to include student learning and operational outcomes, strategies, measures, data collection, analysis, and reporting and provides guidance on the interpretation and use of results to improve student learning and operations.
Generates relevant higher education research and evaluation questions; conducts scholarly research searches for relevant theory and empirical findings to guide projects; determines the most appropriate methodology for study; and designs relevant data collection and analytical study protocols.
Determines the most appropriate statistical analyses for data sets. Conducts or supervises statistical analysis on data sets using SAS Business Intelligence analysis tools or similar software and interprets analyses for technical and non-technical users.
Provides direct supervision to database analyst programmer position in support of Institutional Effectiveness Assessment and evaluation statistical studies.
Assists with the conduct of quantitative and qualitative evaluation statistical studies for university-wide initiatives and other projects as appropriate.
Develops and manages multimedia instructional resources that enable administrators, faculty and staff members to improve their assessment processes and meaningful use of results for quality improvement.
Responsible for working with University administrators to develop and refine assessment guidelines and processes.
Contributes to the maintenance of the regional accreditation of the institution with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges including all processes related to compliance with standards related to Institutional Effectiveness Assessment and in support of specialized accreditation/review of degree programs.
Interprets regional accreditation and other evaluation standards and prepares written reports of professional quality for dissemination within the university and to external agencies such as the Florida Board of Governors and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Assists with the development, testing, implementation, roll-out and maintenance of the Institutional Effectiveness Assessment Business Intelligence web application.
Manages specific projects, such as usability testing, that coordinate Institutional Effectiveness Assessment Business Intelligence web application system users and programmer/developers.
Conducts Power Point presentations for administrators, faculty, staff and external constituents as appropriate.
Participates in committees and supports committees as needed.
Represents the University of Central Florida at professional conferences.
Performs other tasks as needed to support Operational Excellence and Assessment Support, Division of Teaching and Learning, and the university.
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
Doctoral degree in an appropriate area of specialization strongly desired.
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of research methods, statistics and their application in higher education continuous improvement processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of program assessment and the use of data in planning and evaluation.
Ability to apply consistent methodological and analysis principles to a wide range of quantitative and qualitative studies.
Demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis software such as SAS or SPSS.
Experience with issues of accreditation; both regional and programmatic.
