Primary Function of Organization Unit: Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement, maintenance & upgrade of the University's enterprise business applications. This includes development, operation & maintenance of all enterprise administrative systems (Advancement, Financials, HR, Portal and Student Information Systems, etc.), configuration management, maintenance, enhancements, and application integration. The Database Administration Services (DBA) team within EAS is responsible for administering all centralized database environments of the University. It conducts database installation and maintenance, performs database administration and operational support, provides database design and consultation, ensures database security and performance, and also handles bulk data moves.
Essential Job Duties: The IT Manager is responsible for leading the Database Administration Services (DBA) team within the Enterprise Application Services Department of the Office of Information Technology Division (OIT). The Manager supervises a team of professional IT staff, directs the work of the unit, and serves customers both within the division and on campus. The Manager utilizes expertise in applicable technologies and resource management in fulfilling operational responsibilities, enhancing team services, managing project activities, and contributing to strategic planning. The Manager serves as the liaison and coordination point between the DBA team and other technical teams within OIT.

Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Experience as an Oracle database administrator using Oracle's Enterprise Manager. Experience with the Exadata platform. Experience with databases in a RAC environment. Experience with Oracle's Advanced Security Options. Experience with Oracle's Dataguard. Management/supervisory experience with technical professionals. Extensive experience working with database systems in a complex environment. Hands on experience with Oracle database administration as well as their interaction with supporting infrastructure. Expertise in installing, maintaining, tuning, securing, and protecting database environments. A solid knowledge of database tools and SQL in support of application development activities.
