Duties of a Housekeeping Education Manager may include the following but are not limited to:
  • Supervises and administers a training program of systematic cleaning and care of assigned building areas or the entire program in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Plans and schedules staff assignments and cleaning services; reassigns staff to ensure that work is accomplished according to schedule and that staff is fully utilized; and shifts personnel to handle emergency cleaning, maintenance and care projects.
  • Informs staff of custodial and related policies and directives in meetings and memorandum.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for equipment, changes in cleaning methods, and work performance standards to ensure a more effective and efficient cleaning program.
  • Supervises the custodial program inventory system, including the requisitioning and proper distribution and control of new cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Provides oral and written instructions to staff for requested special cleaning services which vary from routine operations, including the development of training programs to comply with sustainability directives.
  • Inspects, audits buildings and assigned areas for compliance with cleaning guidelines; and investigates complaints of unsatisfactory cleaning performance and takes corrective action.
  • Supervises unskilled maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment, and requests semiskilled or skilled trades staff as necessary.
  • Prepares or reviews work activity, staff utilization and requirements on custodial operations.
  • Performs the full range of supervisory duties such as interviewing and selecting staff; establishing training standards and maintaining staff competencies. Training new employees and evaluating work performance. Taking appropriate to include education and disciplinary action, as necessary - recommending retention or termination of employees.
  • Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids and/or tissue as well as other unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries and illness. May be exposed to and be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency and crisis situations.
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position will require the selected candidate to work throughout the facility.
The Housekeeping Education Manager will be required to periodically work on the evening, night, and weekend shifts in order to provide guidance and training to employees on all each shift. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associates degree and three years Custodial Service operations experience. In lieu of Associates degree, four years of progressive Custodial Service management experience. Experience training employees. Direct supervisory experience. Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, and multitasking skills. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Healthcare setting experience. Demonstrated program development, project management, and outcome assessment skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of ESC, CMS, Service Master, Blue Book, and/or Cerner software programs.
