Early Childhood Education Instructor
Provide instruction in early childhood education courses and coordinate and supervise field experiences related to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of young children. The early childhood education course offerings within the division include Foundations of ECE, Child Growth and Development, Observation and Assessment of Child Development, Care and Learning of Infants and Toddlers, Diverse Populations in ECE, Care and Learning of Preschool Children, Care and Learning of School-Age Children, Nutrition, Health and Safety for ECE, Administration of a Child Care Program, and Early Childhood Education Practicum. Assist with course and program review, developing new courses, and the evaluation of student learning outcome assessments in accordance to program and national standards. Expected use of various technology-mediated techniques. As an integral member of the division, individual expected to develop effective collegial relationships, work closely with students and local employers, meet with advisory committees, and promote division programs and the college in general.
Minimum Master’s Degree in Education or Child Development with a minimum of 18 semester credit hours of graduate level work in Early Childhood Education. Certification for elementary education preferred. Prior classroom experience, the ability to identify and implement assessment of student learning strategies and practice essential.
Faculty contract includes 15-18 contact hours per week, 162-day school year. Spring and Summer extra-contractual teaching opportunities may be available.
