The Psychology Department and Neuroscience Program at Rhodes College invite applications for a tenure-track position to begin Fall of 2018. The area of specialization is open. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and scholarship at a liberal arts college. Rhodes College is especially interested in attracting candidates from historically underrepresented groups and/or those with demonstrated commitment to working with diverse and historically underrepresented populations. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary Neuroscience major that includes faculty from Biology, Psychology, Chemistry, and Philosophy. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses/labs a year (labs count as a full teaching involvement) from the following: upper-level neuroscience course and lab in applicant's area of expertise, overview neuroscience course, neuroscience senior seminar, introductory psychology, and other psychology courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program involving undergraduates. Research will be supported by start-up funds and lab space, and possibilities for additional research support include summer research funds and travel funds. In addition, extensive opportunities for collaborative research are available through our partnerships with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee Medical School, and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by August 2018. Previous teaching and postdoctoral research experiences are desirable.
