Vice President of Institutional Advancement

Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution of higher education located on a 70-acre campus in Roanoke, VA, is accepting applications for the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VP of IA). This 12-month administrative faculty position reports to the College President and is a highly visible senior leadership role, focusing on enhancing the college's positive involvement in the service area, resulting in expanded opportunities for faculty, staff and students to increase external visibility, relationships and activities. As an office, Institutional Advancement serves the college by promoting understanding of its people, programs, policies and needs, resulting in securing adequate public and private support essential to the fulfillment of its mission. Core leadership responsibilities include support of initiatives developed in collaboration with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) or at the college level, strengthening the college's role with various private and public entities, and building regional and national relationships with associations, other institutions, and systems. The Vice President provides strategic and operational oversight to the Office of Institutional Advancement, comprised of Marketing & Strategic Communications, the Virginia Western Educational Foundation, and Grants Development & Special Projects.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

The successful candidate will possess a Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field. Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, and budget management skills. Knowledge of resource development, marketing, and branding strategies. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a Board of Directors, as well as business, governmental, community, and volunteer leaders. Experience in public relations functions and providing effective presentations. Strong organizational skills and successful team-building efforts.

DESIRED:

The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the community college mission, as well as experience leading a team of professionals in areas such as resource development, marketing, and grant development. Experience in public and governmental affairs. Experience in an educational setting.
