Duties: Oversee and manage all aspects of the Finance Department which include budget creation and management, and financial forecasting. Prepare and analyze complex financial reports. Manage the department's operating accounts, as well as gifts, endowments, grants, research, and discretionary funds. Maintain and track faculty salary distributions and staff payroll. Monitor all departmental expenses, including faculty DART accounts and PhD program expenses. Oversee departmental purchasing, accounts payable, space allocation, facilities management, and security. Responsible for administration of various aspects of the PhD program. Serve as resource to affiliated centers. Directly supervise 3 administrative and academic support staff and indirectly supervise 1 additional staff, coordinating job assignments to ensure optimal work flow. Apprise chair of department's financial status and serve as department liaison to Wharton School senior financial administrators. This position has a dual reporting relationship and reports directly both to the department's chair and the Vice Dean of Finance and Administration.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have excellent analytic abilities, including facility with Excel. Must be highly organized and focused, able to set priorities and meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail. Strong communication skills a must, and ability to understand faculty priorities. Knowledge of university policies and procedures, and experience with Penn systems such as Business Objects, BEN Financials, and UMIS preferred.
