The Program:

Boston University seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to teach in the BFA and MFA Graphic Design programs.

Boston University's Graphic Design program is situated in the College of Fine Arts, and draws upon the University's strong liberal arts environment for a comprehensive and diverse academic experience.

The Graphic Design program incorporates topics across print and dynamic media throughout its three-year core Graphic Design and Typography sequence. Additional electives such as History of Graphic Design, Experience/Interaction Design, Information Design, Exhibition Design, Motion Graphics, Web Design and Design Theory & Practice support concentrations (e.g., Dynamic Media and Environmental Design) within the major.

Candidate:

We seek a candidate with a strong professional practice and investment in teaching. We view the Graphic Design program as an adaptable and evolving discipline while technology offers new platforms for communication. We invite a new faculty member to collaborate with current faculty members in Graphic Design and other academic disciplines to advance the program, particularly to help develop the 4D/Dynamic Media concentration. Additional responsibilities include departmental and University committees.

Required Skills

Expertise in graphic design and typography across traditional and dynamic media and specialization in one or two practice areas, such as interaction design. Fluency in 4D design and graphic design in screen based media. An MFA and 3-5 years of professional experience demonstrating this expertise is required. University levelĀ· teaching experience is desirable.
