This is a 10 month position.
Career Counselors will assist students with preparing resume and in job search preparations, as well as providing assistance to members of the Murray State community, including alumni, faculty and staff.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is required. Minimum two years of professional work experience required. Evidence of exceptional interpersonal communication and public speaking skills and knowledge of current job search techniques that include preparation of resumes, cover letters, and interview skills required. Must possess the ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and relate to a diverse population. Evidence of experience with personal computers, including word-processing, spreadsheet, database management, and the internet.
Responsibilities: Develops job leads and maintains a computerized on-line employment database. Assists in matching students with employment databases to assist in matching students with employment opportunities. Insures that employment information is up-to-date and posted in a timely manner to both the database and Career Services web page. Assists student with preparation and posting of resumes and job search techniques. Refers students to employers. Schedules and conducts office orientations. Schedules and conducts career counseling sessions. Schedules and conducts topical presentations on careers, job search techniques, resume development and the interview. Schedules and oversees local off-campus work student programs. Schedules and coordinates the mock interview process. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred: A Master’s degree.
