Job Summary:

The Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition of the Department of Pediatrics has an opening for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Advanced Practice Provider (PA or PNP) in an Instructor faculty position. This position will be located at our Colorado Springs Campus in conjunction with Children's Hospital Colorado, and will be a full-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to participate in the clinical activities of our 5 faculty group in Colorado Springs.

Examples of Work Performed:
To specify, this APP will work under the supervision of the faculty pediatric gastroenterologists to provide both in-patient and outpatient care. Primary focus will be inpatient consults (Pediatrics/NICU/PICU and ED). The candidate will evaluate and manage inpatients and outpatients with pediatric GI and nutritional problems. The scope of duties includes performing inpatient consultations, patient history and physical examinations, as well as formulating diagnoses and management plans and making rounds with the Pediatric GI physician attending. Outpatient care will include an inpatient follow-up clinic and other clinics as needed. Outpatient visits may be performed independently over time. This position will also provide patient education as well as obtain surgical consents for GI procedures. Other duties may include the development and implementation of educational materials or protocols for staff and patients. Communication with PCPs and other referring physicians by phone is also expected. Expertise in caring for these subspecialty patients will be gained through mentoring by present staff. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with an outstanding group of academic pediatric gastroenterologists with many rewards. The candidate will have the opportunity to provide continuity pediatric care, and to exercise diagnostic, patient management and teaching skills. Salary will depend on level of experience. State Board certification required. This position is at the academic rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor.



Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $85,000 to $121,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Board certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in patient management and follow up
  • Pediatric experience and training required

  • Prefer experience with pediatric gastroenterology patients.
