NYU's Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst in the Volatility Institute's Volatility Laboratory (V-Lab). The V-Lab provides real time measurement, modeling and forecasting of financial volatility, correlations and risk for a wide spectrum of assets. V-Lab blends together both classic models and the latest advances in financial econometrics. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the Volatility Institute's database administration activities, which includes maintaining V-Lab's security master file and ensuring timely updates to data sets, assisting with the design, development, analysis, implementation, testing, and support of alterations for new analyses and data sets, and fielding customer inquiries for custom data sets. In addition, the selected candidate will also develop and administer policies and procedures to backup, restore, and ensure integrity and security of V-Lab data on development and production servers.

The selected candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or a similar technical field (Master's degree preferred) and a minimum of 2 years working with SQL-based persistent data stores and financial markets domain knowledge, especially in areas of Econometrics, Risk Management and related areas. The selected candidate must also possess an extensive knowledge of the MySQL RDBMS and previous experience implementing data management policies and procedures. Furthermore, the selected candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate and explain difficult statistical and technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
