Staff Accountant II

Rhodes College invites applications for a Staff Accountant II. The Staff Accountant is an internal auditor for travel and business expenditures, and carries out General Accounting functions to include reporting, General Ledger entries, and data analysis. Serves as the Concur software specialist, a program which provides web and mobile solutions for travel and expense management. Responsible for the internal audit function for Concur expense reports and Concur end user training. Provides education to campus customers regarding proper protocol for expenditures as regulated by campus policy and mandated by regulatory bodies. Management of the college credit card bi-weekly billing process. Trains, monitors, and provides oversight of student support staff. Performs General accounting duties such as analyzing general ledger accounts for accuracy and takes steps to report or make adjustments to variances as necessary. Works with budget managers to research and resolve issues within their funding resources. Provides support for the Accounts Payable function by assisting with the audit of vendor payment requests applying knowledge of GAAP, and regulatory and campus requirements. Assists with annual audit preparations. Assists with general customer service for the Finance Office customers and internal staff.Bachelor's degree or equivalent Experience in specialized area; minimum of two years in an accounting environment or in an accounting capacity. Microsoft Office applications with intermediate knowledge of Excel. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to research account variances. Strong level of personal organization with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work calmly during high demand periods while effectively managing multiple tasks and/or projects.
