Faculty Position and Program Director Biomedical Informatics
The Department of Clinical Research and Leadership at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure track faculty position to serve as the program director for academic programs in biomedical informatics. Salary and rank (assistant/associate/full professor) commensurate with experience and qualifications; a competitive benefits package is provided. Responsibilities include developing and directing bachelor and master of science degree programs and graduate certificate training in biomedical informatics. In addition to providing course instruction, the director will assess student learning outcomes and program effectiveness, provide advisement and mentoring to students, engage in scholarly activities, provide service to the university and community, advance interprofessionalism and collaborative with other Health Science Programs, manage pipeline initiatives with regional academic partners, and develop research collaborations across the university. The School’s Biomedical Informatics Center will support the new training programs by contributing the expertise of its faculty, clinical data access, and computational resources. The Center’s expertise includes data integration, machine learning, predictive modeling, natural language processing, clinical decision support, and consumer health informatics.
Basic Requirements: Doctoral degree in a relevant field at time of appointment, additional training and experience in informatics or data sciences, and preparation to lead the development and accreditation of informatics educational programs are required.
