Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) is one of the premier State Colleges in the University System of Georgia. Position Title: Dean and Professor for the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

This position of Dean requires a combination of formal academic training, experience, stakeholder identification and recruitment, leadership, and the management skills necessary to warrant appointment at the Professor level. A terminal degree in a discipline appropriate to the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources is required. The position is a 12 month, tenure-track position.

The Dean for the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. However, he/she has the latitude to develop a course of action within the framework of well-defined College practices and policies. The incumbent supervises approximately 44 full- and part-time faculty and staff.

The Dean is responsible for coordinating administrative decisions in the School by providing leadership for the Heads for the three departments with thin the school, namely: Agriculture, Education, and Natural Resources. A significant responsibility of this position is to provide leadership for the budget process and allocation of resources to the departments in support of the educational programs.   These resources also include the ABAC Farm, Forest Lakes Golf Course, and cooperative properties owned by public and private entities.

The Dean is responsible for coordinating with Department Heads and faculty members to create, develop, and utilize working relationships with industry and alumni to foster the recruitment, professional development and placement of students within the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Dean will coordinate the acquisition of public and private support for agriculture and related programs through grant funding, financial and in-kind donations, partnerships with industry, cooperation with governmental agencies, and among others to enhance the quality of programs within the School.

The Dean is also responsible for creating and encouraging an environment within the School which inspires and appreciates learning at all levels of ability. The Dean must work to enhance the teacher-student relationship by creating the environment conducive to such ends.

The Dean must identify and hire outstanding faculty and staff, support their efforts formally and informally, enable them to continue their professional development for the betterment of the School and College, and reward them appropriately.
