About one-third of all patients admitted to the NC Children's Hospital enter through our emergency department. Expert clinicians representing the full complement of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are available 24/7 for consultations. The UNC Emergency Department is designated as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center - one of two in the state and the only one in the Triangle area. As such, pediatric patients with traumatic injuries of varying severity are referred to the Pediatric Emergency Department at UNC from around the state for care. Experienced Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians, as well as soon to graduate PEM fellows are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have strong clinical skills.
