Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia is seeking a student-centered faculty member to serve as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. The assistant dean is responsible for the organization, supervision, evaluation, and fiscal management of the Office of Student and Career Services. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Medical Education and Academic Affairs and oversees a staff of 3 including the director of financial aid. This is a Faculty Non-Tenure-Track position at the level of clinical assistant or clinical associate professor and the person will be expected to spend at least 90% of their time in their duties as Assistant Dean. Clinical faculty may opt to spend up to 10% of their time in clinical duties.

Required Education and Experience

Ph.D. or M.D./D.O. Physicians should be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina. Knowledge and experience in medical student education, preferably specifically in the area of student affairs. The successful candidate will have a proven record in clinical, academic, and/or administrative leadership.
