Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine is seeking a mid-senior level academic physician engaged in primary cancer prevention/screening with an emphasis on reaching underserved patient populations. This position will be for a tenure/tenure track associate/full professor in Family and Preventive Medicine with joint appointments available in the USC School of Public Health or other appropriate affiliate. Moreover this position will entail an appointment at the WJB Dorn VA (5/8ths) for providing primary cancer screening and establishing a research initiative in this thematic area and in keeping with the VA mission. This high level position will be supported by a South Carolina SmartState Chair Endowment, Family and Preventive Medicine within the School of Medicine, and the VA Medical Center.

Required Education and Experience

The candidate should have an MD degree with appropriate board certification and be eligible for licensing in South Carolina and credentialing within the VA healthcare system. Physician Scientist active in the area of cancer screening/prevention/disparities. A strong track record of past and current federal/peer review funding essential.
