Job Description

The Psychology Department at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, open-rank position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in Industrial/Organizational Psychology to begin September 2018. Candidates will be expected to publish in top-quality journals and teach mainly graduate courses in I/O topic areas. Further, the candidate is expected to aid in the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary I/O Psychology PhD program with concentrations in business analytics and computer science.



Qualifications & Requirements

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of research productivity commensurate with experience, and the potential to attract extramural funding. Area of I/O specialization is open and should complement but expand the department's current expertise. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and teaching apply advanced quantitative analyses such as big data, dynamic models, multi-level modeling, or longitudinal analyses. Additional requirements include:
  • PhD in I/O psychology or closely related field.
  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision at thesis, honors, independent research, and/or doctoral levels.
  • A research profile underpinned by potential to attain publications in high quality journals.
  • Evidence of potential to attain external research funding.
  • Commitment in fostering relationships with research, community, industry, government and professional partners and with other higher education institutions.
  • Engagement with external bodies to enhance the national and international standing of the discipline and institution.


Applicants seeking appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level should have a well-established history of research productivity commensurate with rank. Preference is given for evidence of external funding and a strong record of teaching and mentoring graduate students. Candidates with experience in graduate program leadership are also encouraged to apply.
