Job Description

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montclair State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Applied Mathematics at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor. While the area of specialization is open, preference will be given to applicants whose research complements and strengthens the research activity of the Department in one or more of the following areas: applied dynamical systems, computational modeling, fluid mechanics, mathematical biology, and medical imaging. Candidates are expected to be excellent instructors and active scholars. Moreover, candidates should have demonstrated potential to serve as mentors to undergraduate and graduate research students, as well as to take an active role in departmental and university activities.



Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics or a related field. Candidates for a tenure-track position should exhibit evidence of excellent research potential, including significant contributions beyond the PhD dissertation. In addition, a strong commitment to excellence in instruction is expected. An appointment with tenure requires evidence of sustained excellence in research and teaching, as well as service commensurate with the associate/full professor rank.
