Posting Information: The Department of Political Science and Public Affairs at Western Carolina University is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor in American politics, with particular emphasis on Congress and the Presidency. The successful candidate will contribute to the Political Science program by teaching six courses per year (including a course in Congress, a course in the American Presidency, and sections of American Government and Politics;a key component of our university's general education program), contributing to the discipline through publications and research activity, and conducting service appropriate for the position. The ideal candidate will have independent teaching experience at the university level, a promising research trajectory, and a doctorate in Political Science or a related field from an accredited institution. Exceptional ABD candidates will also be considered. The position begins August, 2018 and the salary is competitive. Western Carolina University (WCU) is a 10,000-student campus in the University of North Carolina system that offers 120 areas of study for undergraduates and more than 50 graduate-level programs. The campus is located in the picturesque Cullowhee valley between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains, 50 miles west of Asheville, North Carolina, and 150 miles northeast of Atlanta. The Western North Carolina region is noted for its excellent quality of life and access to outdoor activities.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: ABD from an accredited university in Political Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD from an accredited university in Political Science, or a related field, independent teaching experience at the college level.
