Offset Duplicating Machine Operator II
Department Summary: The Copy Center provides service for all academic, administrative and student organizations on the campus and generates an average of six million copies per year. The Copy Center provides various copy and printing functions, including black and white copies, color copies, faxing, lamination, graphic arts printing, large-format printing and provides on-site use of graphic arts software.
Position Summary: Full time, 12 month, AFSCME position Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 9:45 am to 6:00 pm (Saturday and Sunday as days off) The incumbent of this position provides superior customer service to all customers from order placement to order delivery. The Offset Duplicating Machine Operator II is trained in the use and troubleshooting of all machines in the Copy Center This position reports directly to The Reproduction Supervisor and supervises student employees. This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties: * Greet customers and assist them with their needs in a timely and courteous manner. * Receive, prioritize and produce print requests for the campus community. * Troubleshoot print requests with departments to meet printing criteria and guidelines. * Prepare and ensure web order forms work properly. * Provide accurate end product with special attention to detail. * Determine the need for supplies and equipment to complete assignments. * Review job requests; schedule jobs to meet deadlines; keeps records of jobs completed. * Track departmental usage and prepare monthly reports to distribute to campus community. * Troubleshoot equipment jams to ensure proper production of materials. * Ensure the security of printing of exam and other confidential materials. * Supervise student employees as needed. * Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: * Applicants must have at least (A) six months of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the operation of offset printing equipment, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions listed on MA state job specifications. * Ability to understand and apply the policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. * Ability to maintain accurate records. * Ability to follow oral and written instructions. * Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols. * Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. * Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. * Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. * Ability to give oral and written instructions in a precise and understandable manner. Salary Range: $1,473.34 bi-weekly (Grade 13, Step 1)
