The Desk Assistant (DA) works at the residence hall community desk, assisting in the administration of the hall and providing service to students. The DA is an integral staff member of the Office of Residence Life and serves as an initial representative of the residence hall, the department, and UNT Dallas. The DA is in direct contact with persons outside the UNT Dallas community, as well as residents and their guests, and should maintain a professional appearance and a positive attitude at all times.The Desk Assistant (DA) is responsible for staffing the service desk in the residence hall. The primary responsibility of the DA is to be a visible presence assisting residents and guests, ensure the safety and security of the residence hall, and provide different resources to the community.Provides External Customer ServiceoProvide a friendly community desk environment.oMaintain a professional demeanor and wear name tag while at the service desk. oRespond to customers in a polite and professional manner.oIssue equipment and maintain information regarding equipment use and damage.oReview and post room reservations (as applicable) using University calendar/reservation systemProvides Internal Customer ServiceoFacilitate positive relationships with students and staff.oComplete other duties as assigned by supervisors or other Residence Life staff.oTreat others with respect and appreciates differences.oContribute fairly by taking less desirable shifts and assignments; Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude.oProvide follow-up for resident concerns.oCommunicate policies and instructions correctly and effectively to residents.Attends Shifts, Training Sessions, Staff Meetings and Other Meetings as ScheduledoAttend and participate in DA staff meetings and trainings.oArrive to shifts on time to be briefed by predecessor.oFollow procedure for locating/recording shift changes.Desk Assistant (DA) must adhere to all DA expectations regarding performance, attendance, conduct and policy/procedure compliance.The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit ? and takes actions to prevent ? discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices.
